Technobit Mopping Bitumen

Technobit Mopping Bitumen

TECHNOBIT MOPPING BITUMEN is an elastomeric, inter-ply mopping asphalt designed for use with guaranteed TECHNOBIT Roof Systems. TECHNOBIT MOPPING BITUMEN is modified with SEBS polymers and blended to meet the high performance requirements for TECHNOBIT SBS-modified bitumen roof applications. The heat resistant design of TECHNOBIT MOPPING BITUMEN lends demonstrably higher performance characteristics than any standard ASTM D 312 product.

Intended Use

Superior elastomeric sealant in SBS modified bitumen that creates a flexible layer that maintains its continuity even during movements, shocks and Sealing for :

  • Roofs, foundation, walls, basements and underground buildings.

  • Wet room floors and concrete journeys of bridges.

Major Features

  • High flexibility.

  • High resistance to standing water.

  • Resistance against underground water penetration.

  • Creates a continuous, strong and flexible sealing layer.

  • High recycling capacity.

  • Excellent adhesion to concrete.

  • Resistant to chlorides.

  • Fast application and drying.

Method of Application

  • All mopping layers of TECHNOBIT MOPPING BITUMEN must be total in coverage without breaks or voids. Care should be taken not to exceed TECHNOBIT recommended mopping weight of 1.5kg/$\text{m}^2$ per ply per square; minimum application temperature 218°C .

  • Under cold weather conditions [ 4°C and below including wind chill], special precautions must be taken to ensure that TECHNOBIT MOPPING BITUMEN maintains minimum acceptable temperatures at the point of contact with the roofing sheet. TECHNOBIT MOPPING BITUMEN must not be overheated to compensate for cold conditions; maximum heating temperature 246°C .

  • Use of insulated handling equipment is strongly recommended. During application, the TECHNOBIT MOPPING BITUMEN should never be applied more than 1.5 meters ahead of the roll, which should be unrolled continuously at a steady pace. Pressure should be kept on the roll at all times to ensure proper embedment. Air pockets beneath the system or between plies are unacceptable. Any such pockets should be “broomed in” immediately while the TECHNOBIT MOPPING BITUMEN is hot enough to facilitate a proper bond.
